The benefits of karate
Fitness Build the aerobic conditioning and strength unique to traditional karate. Perform powerful movements to condition your heart and lungs, arms and legs; calisthenics and weight training to strengthen muscles; and unique conditioning exercises that toughen your entire body into a formidable, flexible weapon. Self-defense You’ll learn basic fighting techniques from the very first class like blocking, kicking, punching and how to make a proper fist. Protect yourself and your family through effective fighting exercises that use every part of your body including hands, feet, elbows, and knees. Unique to our style is a piercing snap-kick that uses your shoe in a devastating technique. Fighting sequences are performed repeatedly so they become instinctive. Discipline Develop the discipline that strengthens every aspect of your life. Children learn the habits they need for school and for life beyond. Adults benefit from discipline to advance their career, family life, and day-to-day life. Confidence Gain confidence and erase self-imposed limitations. Boldly walk down the street, maybe for the first time in your life. The discipline and confidence learned in class will carry through to the other areas of your life so that you’ll do more than you ever thought possible. Stress relief Burn off the frustrations of your day and leave with a smile on your face. And endorphins in your blood. Build the energy and strength to conquer whatever life brings. "The dojo is the place where courage is fostered and superior human nature is bred through the ecstasy of sweating in hard work. It is the sacred place where the human spirit is polished." - Shoshin Nagamine Okinawan Shorin-Ryu Karate Karate began over five hundred years ago in Okinawa and continuously evolved into the formidable form of self-defense it is today. Shorin-ryu is the most popular style in Okinawa. United States Grand Master Ansei Ueshiro brought karate to the United States in 1962 when he was unanimously selected by the highest Black Belts in Okinawa. At the time, he was the current winner of four consecutive world karate titles, and was the world’s premier expert of the bo staff weapon. We now have over 30 schools on 3 different continents. Come join our “family” of purposeful, friendly people. |
